CBM sends more medical equipment to Angola

Medical devices, donated by ophthalmologists in Luxembourg, were sent to CBM’s local partner, IONA, Angola

CBM Luxembourg has the provision of medical equipment as one of its four key areas of focus for its mission of supporting projects that prevent avoidable blindness and visual impairment.  Having the right equipment can make a difference to the work of eye doctors who treat patients.  With this in mind, CBM is always looking at opportunities to send new, or used, equipment to its local partner, IONA, in Angola.

At the end of 2024, CBM was generously donated some used equipment which, although several years old, was still in perfect working order.  Hôpitaux Robert Schuman (HRS) donated a YAG Laser.  Additionally, Dr Robert Reis donated a slit lamp.

CBM arranged for the YAG laser and the slit lamp to be fully checked before it was packed and shipped to IONA, arriving in January 2025.  Not only does this action allow medical devices to get to doctors who need it, it also gives them a longer life.

From CBM Luxembourg and IONA, a big thank you to HRS for the kind donation of the YAG laser as well as the support during the process.  And thank you to Dr Robert Reis for the kind donation of the slit lamp.
